If your products make use of lot or serial numbers, this preferences dialog will serve as a means of customizing how they are used.
General Tab
Show Lot/Serial Expiry. When checked, Item lists can be filtered based on expiry.
Force Lot/Serial 'Part Of'. If checked, you must specify on the Work Order the lot or serial number to which the component belongs.
Increment duplicate number when scanning. If checked, the lot/serial number will be incremented instead of duplicated when scanning in Items.
When getting available quantity get the exact quantity. By default, when a user adds an Item to a transaction that contains lot/serial numbers, the lot entry dialog appears. If the user clicks Get Available, a list of available lots is displayed. When checked, you will automatically get all of a chosen lot. If unchecked, you will only receive a quantity of one, even if there's a greater quantity of that particular lot.
When importing Lot/serial #s from Excel, if existing ones are found only update. When you are importing the lot/serial numbers into the Lot/Serial # editor screen, if checked, the system will update any existing lot/serial # instead of duplicate it.
Enter a default number of days before a lot/serial # expires. This command will automatically generate an expiration date for new instances of an Item based on the number of days you enter here.
When getting the Next Seq# the system should increment based on: By default when using Get Next # to generate lot/serial #s, the system will look for the most recently entered #and then generate the next one in sequence.
The most recently entered lot serial #: By checking this option, the system will instead look for the last record entered and then use that one to generate the next one in sequence.
Or,
Select the NextSeq# using the last # found when sorting alphanumerically.
Combine your first choice with:
All items across the entire system will share a sequence of lot/ serial #s.
Or,
Each item will have it own sequence of lot/serial #s. In this case, there can be duplicate lot/serial #s as long as they are different items.
Duplicates Tab
Allow duplicates. This allows duplicate lot or serials numbers to be entered.
Warn when duplicated. If checked, a warning will be displayed whenever a duplicate lot/serial # is entered for an item.
Do not Allow Duplicates. You can set this preference with certain exceptions:
Allow duplicate if different item. Allow duplicate lot/serial #s but only if they are for different items.
Do not allow adjustments to create duplicates. This is in conjunction with "Allow duplicate if different item." When checked, lot/serial #s can not be duplicated on quantity adjustment transactions. When unchecked lot/serial #s can be duplicated on quantity adjustments.
