How do you receive a deposit from a customer?

At times you may receive a deposit from a customer before an invoice is
generated through NumberCruncher.  
1.    In QuickBooks do Customer --> Receive Payments. Put in a
memo like - Advance payment for SO # 4. 
2.    Save & Close and DO NOT apply to an existing invoice. 
2.    You will see a negative amount in your accounts receivable
aging report. This is expected.
3.    When the invoice is generated within QuickBooks by
NumberCruncher, reopen the Receive Payment created in #1 and Apply to the
invoice. 
4.    Save and Close.
